The Hellbrunn Trick fountains

Experience the winter flair of the water gardens and the Hellbrunn Trick fountains

The Hellbrunn Trick Fountains were commissioned around 1613 by the then prince-bishop Markus Sittikus of Hohenems and are the most well-preserved trick fountains of the time of the late Renaissance and Mannerisam period.

A Christmas market with historical trick fountains – this probably doesn`t exist anywhere else. The baroque caves and fountains were world famous only as summer attractions. However, since 2016, the area of the Hellbrunn trick fountains – from the princely table to the Sternweiher pond – has been open for the duration of the Advent market. Although the water mechanisms are not in operation due to risk of freezing, the historic area is accessible free of charge. Especially in the evening hours, when the many lights illuminate the statues and ponds, the path from the princely table to the pond makes for a very special kind of winter walk.

You can admire the sturgeon in the ponds with a length of up to 2 meters

Christmas Post Office

Our Christmas Post Office is located between the princely table and the Sternweiher pond, in the so-called "Weinkeller", in cooperation with Cleverly. Every year, hundreds of wishes are sent to the “Christkind”, our Austrian version of Santa, and from 1st - 24th December a daily wish is fulfilled!
